Ms. McGee is connecting music, language and science in one lesson. She show this by showing the connections and differences in the alphabet to note or musical alphabet. She mentions science briefly talking about notes in different places on the staff with the same note name. Students are given the opportunity to use note name in the staff to make words that they know. Ms. McGee is offering different ways to learn, short lecture, small group activity, and interaction with classmates and instruments. She is connecting music with prior knowledge and other content areas.

Ms. McGee compares the number of alphabet letters in the regular alphabet and the music alphabet , to relate the lesson to the children's life.
Ms. McGee shows the students how spelling out certain letters in music is also related to reading music.
Ms. McGee allows the students to decide on what letters they want to use for notes and create sounds that way. She gives them physical enrichment devices to place and be active participants in the learning process.
