What are the benefits of having students tweet their learning?
The twitter format promotes concise thought, and instant feedback. This lets students communicate their ideas widely and receive near instant feedback.
How does the use of Twitter give students an authentic audience?
Students follow each other (and others) on Twitter, which lets their peers see/hear what they are saying right away.
How could you use this strategy in your own classroom?
I have used Twitter in theatre productions for the audience to engage with each other and the cast.

This is a formative assessment that I would have never thought of to get answers from students. In today’s age every kid has a tweeter, this strategy may reach out to those kids who do not pay attention in class and pay attention to technology. It is not a strategy that I would be comfortable with, but if a teacher is comfortable with a formative assessment using tweeter it would be a cool and fun strategy.

1.The benifits of students tweeting their r learning allows for asssessments in "real time". Students are able to share their learning with the world in a way that promotes self expression of learning. Twitter allows for transparancy but it also allows for changes, additions and the removal of the tweet if a students does not want to leave his/her responses up for the world to see.

2. Students can become confudent becasue they can SEE that their work has value and purpose. What the have learned does matter

Speaker 1: If you look on the agenda there's some questions and you guys get to choose on what your reflection will be today, and you're going to answer it. You know me. We are going to tweet out. One way I allow my students to reflect on what happened and digest the nuggets that they received in their learning for the day, is to compose a tweet. If you look at the agenda, tell me the possible questions to reflect upon.
Speaker 2: What was the most helpful to you [crosstalk 00:00:37].
Speaker 1: Okay, good. What else?
Speaker 3: What was the most significant part of learning today and why?
Speaker 1: Allowing them to tweet and encouraging that gives them a reflection piece. Then also me, some insight as an educator where to go next. I would like you to choose one. Let's do 10 minutes, and then let's share out schedules. It also gives me an idea of where are they. Did they get the nuggets that they wanted to? I can look at individual tweets or as a whole group. I could say, "Oh well, they hit on this in this class. This class didn't hit on that at all," so I can kind of see, "Oh, well maybe I need to go over this with this section." If you guys have already done your tweet, feel free to go ahead and retweet, quote tweet, whatever you want that's on your [inaudible 00:01:16]. My kids love it when their thoughts get retweeted, and liked, and things like that. It makes them feel like it's this mini opportunity for publishing.

Speaker 1: One of my missions, I would say as an educator, is to make what's happening in public schools transparent, open for everyone to see. Okay. Let's hear what you got.
Speaker 5: Sometimes no one is really right or wrong, and that both ways might work, but that the challenge is in coming up with a compromise and working together.
Speaker 1: Ultimately, accountability will not be seen just in those tests on one day, and one piece of paper, but body of work of growth of these learners. Whom not only learned something in the classroom, but they learned something so profound that they're willing to share it out to the rest of the world.
