  3. How would you describe the teacher's role?  the teacher plaid the role of the facilitator. Allowing students to figure out the problem without interference. He led their discussion to produce more ideas and conversation.

I think this teacher has done an excellent job facilitating an environment where kids feel safe taking risks and aren't afraid of failing or making mistakes and our students ultimately learn the most from their mistakes. I also admire how he is teaching them to be active listeners, seeking first to understand and then to be understood. Active listening is a crucial skill to have in the real world and these students will be prepared to apply it in other settings outside of the classroom.

This teachers approach of making everyone feel comfortable and part of the classroom environment is great. In addition, I love how he uses a koosh ball to increase students sharing their specific ideas throughout the classroom while encouraging student thinking and inference skills.

You can tell he forms postive relationships with his students. He talks to them in the hall, greets them at the door and shows he cares. What a great teacher!
