I like that the teacher had them read and restate the lesson objective.   She has them recite them a couple of times to make sure students  have an understanding the objectives.  She then ask students what is soil and gives students opportunity to discuss in partner sharing activities.  Teacher then have students share what was discussed with their parnters. She writes their answers to the question on the board.  She then ask students what questions they have about soil.  Students again share their questions with their partners.  Teacher again writes their questions on the board and reviews them with the classroom.  Love that she gives them a brain break after 10 minutes to help with the transition.  She sends students to table and ask what do you notice on the informational text.  Students notice soem things that they notice-text features. Teacher points out that those are text features.  She explains what are text features and points them out on the informational text.  Teachers students how to take notes (highlight certain words vs highlighting everything on text to find answers to questions).

I loved how she kept an eye on everyone throughout the lesson. Brought those that weren't being so active in the informative worksheet close to her to the carpet where she did small group sessions. Please and thank you huge words that I heard many times. Great teacher! Great kids! Nice way of closing of the lecture. P.S. it was awesome seeing their brain break moment since I am a true believer that stretching and deep breathing help a lot plus it helps her as a teacher mentally.

I loved how the teacher would have the students recite the objective of the lesson a couple of times because it's able to give them a clearer understanding of what's to be expected for the day. What was also really nice was that after the free-disscusion portion amongst the other students she would let her students stretch and take deep breaths for a couple minutes. This helps the students feel more energized towards the lesson that the teacher has planned, and allows for a smoother transition into the next phase of the lesson. At the same time, it's very clever that she would have the students reread parts of the reading if they didn't understand it the first time, and gives them a chance grasp words or phrases that they may not have noticed before. Finally, I liked how at the very end having the students recite the objectve to see if they truly understood what they had learned in class.
