Discussion and Supporting Materials

Thought starters

  1. How does this strategy help students build on each other's ideas?
  2. What about this strategy helps students participate in the follow-up class discussion?
  3. How could you use this idea with a variety of concepts?

I like this a lot and will use it next year 2018/2019. I think it is an activity my 3rd graders would have to grow into as they need to first learn how to work together and participate more. Possibly I could start it early in the year if there was only one exchange then back to the owner of the note.

This sounds like a really good strategy. It engages students and allows them to think critically about their perspective and that of their classmate. I like it...

I am going to try this today with our weekly literature read. We also have "compass buddies" which will help with random, quick note passing. Thank you.
