This is a great way to keep the kids focused on the material. In ELA it's called accountable talk. Either way, the kids have to know what they're doing; I noticed Rubric Level 1 even requires a correct answer, so there is no getting around explaining oneself. Excellent.

Rubics are a great way for students to gaue their own successful learning outcomes. They have a direct connection to learning and what is expeted of them as well as providing them a guide for success. It help reduce their own stress that comes along with larning new things and how they will present their knowledge learned.

This is a wonderful tool to keep students engaged in their work. By using this rubric students seem to take more responsibility for their work and don't label it as "homework" as much but consider it more real life work. I am anxious to incorporate this process into my next lesson. Thanks for a valuable suggestion.

Wonderful video Mark. I, too, am focusing on rubrics and have seen a huge leap in the amount of thinking students are now putting on their papers. Thank you for this video and the attached resources. I am always on the hunt for more concise ways to show the rubrics. I like your laminated version to keep in math binders!
