I absolutely loved this video.  For someone who has not been in front of a classroom yet (high school), it provided some great ideas.  I appreciated the reference to actual classroom expriences and how to apply the strategies discussed.  Thank you.  I am so excited to get there and implement some of these....Thank you!

Hello!

My name is Veronica and I teach in a Dual Immersion PK.  I strongly believe in establishing clear and concise classroom expectations from day one.  Children strive for a structured environment and need classroom norms for learning to take place.  As the school year progresses it is important to revisit and reteach classroom expectations.  I have found that a well, managed classroom fosters positive learning.

The classroom rules that you teach from day one are behavior, classroom expectations like hand raising, being respectful to everyone, rewards, being in class on time and ready to start the day, and other things like that. In order to build the culture of the classroom, you have to offer rewards as well a punishment when its warrented. This will create norms, routines, and behaviors. In order to save time, you should find out what the students know and build on what they already know.
