I love how the teacher speaks slowly so the students can understand her. She is very clear with her instructions as well. The students are engaged and focused on their topic. She provided many opportunites for the kids to learn, grow, and have fun at the same time.

What a fabulous way to teach!  What a fabulous way to teach text structures!  This teacher is using all of the methods for keeping school interesting and fun, while getting students to understand the content.  Excellent!

In the video "Reading Information Text" I enjoyed how the teacher seemed to direct the class but with everything that she said the students were being successful. The Mingle Mingle was interesting because the students could be moving about the room and observing what was on the walls around the room. The method let them move around the room in different ways she stopped and asked they a question about what they saw or learned then they could also do a partner gather, then chat with that partner and talk about the things they saw. The teacher was always in charge but the students learned new things and it was a good lesson with the students able to learn about their nonfiction books.

Managing a classroom full of students can be a difficult job.  The teacher in this video shows several ideas of how to not only manage but the students had an opportunity to learn. The teacher showed the students the parts of the book and discussed with them why this information is essential to know when reading a book. She helped them see what to look for when reading a book to help them get the most information from the book.   I like how she used words and counted down to give the kids their cues of when to talk and when to listen.  She also showed ways of having the students move around the classroom with a fun check of meeting your reading buddy or another kind of partner as she called out a body part to meet against like an elbow to elbow or fist to fist. The teacher was always totally engaged with the class and the learning that was going on, We have a class with several Behavior students and this should be enough moving that they would be able to enjoy the moving as well as the opportunities to talk in class in a good way and then she could "popcorn" them to another opportunity to learn,
