Meet Maria Perryman: Tch Laureate Transcript

I am very passionate about reading, writing, the language arts. I love it. I read constantly, I’ve been a reader from a child up. That’s why I wear glasses now, because I always want, my parents would say “it’s time to go bed”, and I would be reading a book, and I didn’t want to turn the lights out, and so I would just read. And I would read in the dark, from the hall light, and so, I just had to read a book, and I just had to read one. And when I was younger, even going to the library was a joy, and I would come home from the library with a stack of books, just carrying them, happy, happy that I’m going to read these books. And I just have that love and that passion for it, and that’s what I want my students to have as well, when they’re a part of my classroom. No matter what age they are, when you come to my room, you’re going to love reading. And you’re going to understand how to read and how the characters are actual, they can become actual people, and you can get into the drama of the lives of the characters and their stories.
