THOUGHT STARTERS

  1. What is Mr. Bell's purpose behind his greeting of students beyond being cordial or nice? Vocabulary understanding, all ideas are right. Matching activity with excerpts form story to theme. Characters, conflicts, what happens at end and why. How themes vary students have different takes. End has a difference based on change where the wolf is invited to dinner at end. Different takes on how it ends again.
  2. See how the "noise-o-meter" helps establish expectations How does Mr. Bell involve students in making the classroom rules? Choice of power or friendship students develop three different plots on power or friendship. Again themes vary by learning more concretely and having fun connections.
