  1. How does Mr. Kwon use the video to invite wonder?
The video is interesting for the students to watch, which connects them to the beginning of the lesson.  He asks a basic question "what questions might you have" to get them engaged and warmed up.
  2. How does Mr. Kwon connect the video to the day's lesson?
The lesson for the day seems to be using algebra to find speed (or something similar).  The wonder questioning creates the students interest in finding answers, and he is ready to connect that self-interest the students have into the lesson.  This is effective because the students are already warmed up and in an inquisitive mode now.
  3. How could you use this strategy in your own classroom?
I think rather than just beginning a new topic cold, having the students ponder/wonder about an aspect of it will help them want to be inquisitive about the lesson.

Using the video gets the students involved for the lesson for the day. The video of the racing game never discussed speed but it got the students asking questions about speed. It was a great way to start the day and get the students involved.

Speaker 1: So the first thing that we're going to do today is I want you guys to warm up with a little bit of curiosities, wonders and questions you might have. So I'm going to show you guys a video. The thing I want you guys to be curious about is what you see on the screen, what questions you might have and what do you wonder. And if you have something, go ahead and write something down on your screens.
Speaker 1: Curiosity, questions and wonders, yes, Kevin.
Speaker 2: How can the car move so swiftly without crashing and going full speed?
Speaker 1: So, how can the car not crash when it's moving so fast? That's what he's saying. Okay, that's good. So looks like looking at your wonders of questions, all of you guys have to do something with speed. Now, we're going to investigate a way to measure speed.
