In this video shows clip, The teacher has great classroom management proceedures in place. This was apparent in the way the students worked independently in small groups as she worked one on one or in a small group assisting other students develop skills. This teacher is prepared with the groups and missing skills for the group so that she is able to meet the individual's specific needs. She questions throughout the lesson to get the children to think in real world situations and provides many opportunities to respond. She even has one student teach a concept to another student.
I believe that in the aftermath of COVID and remote learning, teachers will see more and more gaps in students and using small groups will be one way to help to remediate and accelerate students. It is also note worthy to see that the video was just over 18 minutes and she was able to offer 2 groups that were taught throughly.

Reflection: I really enjoyed this video because I can relate to small group instruction. One of the most challenging parts of teaching is to be able to differentiated during a lesson. The teacher is doing an excellent job asking essential questions and promoting critical thinking during her small group instruction. The use of manipulatives in the classroom is essential for those kids learn in a different way. Her student stations were running smoothly while she was working with her small group. Class management is great and the kids are able to work independently allowing the teacher to support other students.

I teach at a charter school in the Mat-Su Borough. I'm the special education provider and 504 coordinator for students KG -8th grade learning content through a second language. Some of our class groupings are multiage. I've been an educator in the Mat-Su for a long time . I support small groups in class and pull students for individualized instruction. One of my roles is support teachers implementing interventions for learners striving for success across all areas of academics.
I have three young adult children; two are in college, one is in trade school. I enjoy all that Alaska has to offer during winter, spring, summer, and fall. I travel as often as possible, mostly to see family in my lower 48 home state.
The video, Small Group and Individualized Math InstructionI, demonstrates what is possible with differentiation and well established routines/rules. I'm often asked by teachers and the RTI team for help implementing centers and small group instruction within a classroom. There were so many to choose from - I also liked the video from an Arizona multiage school using the outdoors and tennis shoes to teach dychotomies.
