Each student was engaged in the lesson by actively listening and participating. I enjoyed how Alex mentioned the time that he received pizza from the lunchroom that he cut into equal size, relating it to what the teacher was explaining to the class. The teacher allowed the students to explain their thinking and encouraged the students to come up to the board to write their fractions. She also talked about different representations. Working with diverse representations encourages the development of problem-solving skills. Students learn to analyze problems from different perspectives and choose the most appropriate representation for a given situation.

I can appreciate using real world examples and bringing in anctual watermelons to class. To tie it all together I would have cut up the watermelon and asked the student how many pieces we would need to have equal parts for everyone in the class, and than we would have eaten watermelon together.
There was a great amount of detail in this lesson, she clearly stated her expectations for the lesson and it seems the students did well, however I do think this could have been broken down a bit more.

I feel like this lesson went really well, I feel as though the kids could have been a little more enganged, mostly because talking for an entire hour and no activities at a young age may start to bore them. Other then that i feel like the kids where engaged farily well in the lesson, and that they were paying attention

This lesson is about using real world, that kids like such as pizza or watermelon to connect them with learning. of fractions. Given models they used them to get the right answers and then to justify their answers. Sharing their answers and reading task as a class to help them to understand instructions.

I enjoyed watching the educatorteach students how to be experts in fractions, by using various strategies, by checking their answers and by justifying their strategy and answer.
