Mr. Van Dyke approaches each group with a warm casual disposition that creates an welcoming environment. He engages with the class with a calm voice as they work in groups to help facilitate discussions. Focusing the students on participation keeps the students on task avoiding unwanted behaviors. His teaching method avoids loud confrontation with a misbehaving student causing embarrassment for the student and awkwardness for his or her peers. In return, making the classroom an environment for learning.

Mr Van Dyke uses comfort and a judgment free classroom to reinforce learning. He uses positive words of encouragment coupled with soft tone to really free the learners of doubting their ideas and learning.
As a result he has a class with managed postive interactions and they all learn more aspects of their ideas as well as other person's ideas. Based on what I saw, there were learning as a team, bouncing off ideas as well as discussing topics with minimal guidance from the instructor.

Mr. Van Dyck lowers his tone when he would like to gain his student's attention. Instead off pointing out non-desired behaviors, he is encouraging the positive behaviors he is seeing and fostering those behaviors. He engages his students in a way that is energetic and positive while creating a comfortable environment for children to be comfortable.
Evidence I see of a positive classroom is the engagement of the students. They look happy and interested in the topic, they also look comfortable in participating in discussions.
The teacher is fostering an environment where students won't be afraid to ask questions that they need to. They look comfortable addressing the teacher with their thoughts and questions while really engaging in the material.

To control and encourage desired behaviors, Mr. VanDyke uses a closer proximity and a calm, quiet voice. Since he finds that his students are very sensitive in general, drawing them in with a quiet welcoming tone proves to be more beneficial. He is also mirroring desired behaviors by not yelling at the students and instead provoding a calm environment.
There is evidence of a positive classroom culture in the children smiling and engaged with Mr. VanDyke, as well as the other students. They trust that they can be open and honest without the risk of being scolded.
A sense of belonging in this classroom is enouraged by the welcoming and supportive environment that has been created. The students are allowed to express themselves to eachother as well as Mr. VanDyke without fear of criticism. Mr. VanDyke is sensitive to their individual needs as well as the needs of the class as a whole, and shows he cares with a soft voice and reassuring pat on the back.
