Discussion and Supporting Materials

Thought starters

  1. How does Mr. McComb scaffold instruction to build students' understanding of the text?
  2. What role does modeling play in this lesson?
  3. How does Mr. McComb use the write-like, blank verse, and choral reading to make the text relevant to students?

I liked the way he provided scaffolding in the lesson. Modelling before independent work and feedback.

I loved this lesson.  The way he scaffolded it was to break it into 3 sections.  He started off by modeling for the students the first section.  He also gave each student a voice in the lesson.
