Discussion and Supporting Materials

Thought starters

  1. What is the impact of the curriculum stating "it's not the child that we should evaluate, it's processes in the school?
  2. " How does the motto of "Challenge, Discovery, and Adventure" shape this school's approach?
  3. How does spending half of every day outside contribute to student learning?

LOVE this model of early childhood education! I so wish we would follow this sort of program in the U.S......it is so much more developmentally appropriate than the standard preschool program here now.

I love the ways that they use to make children take a nap outside the class.

This is a wonderful video. I use it in my college education classes. It really helps them understand that there are different and very positive ways to teach children. Thank you for providing films like this. I would like to see more of them. Finland is getting lots of publicity for their excellent education system. It would be nice to see something on them.
