I enjoyed this lesson. The teacher encouraged the students to use the rubric to rate their geometry project and then asked them to justify why they would receive that score. A rubric provides transparency in the grading process. Students can see how their work will be evaluated, which reduces ambiguity and promotes fairness. Also, knowing the criteria for success can motivate students to put forth their best effort by holding them accountable for meeting the specified standards. I also liked how the students felt comfortable enough in their classroom to present their models. The teacher created an environment where students feel valued and respected.
