What a great video.  I was just speaking with my department about how I feel that our 9-11th grade students lost out on so much.  Many were not in person for middle school so did not have the opportunity to learn so many social skills learned during that important developmental time.  It is so important for us as teachers to form strong relationships with the students and guide them and model positive interactions.

Wow. I really enjoyed this video. So much valuable input on the importance of beloninging within a classroom. The relationships between the students is just as important as relationship with teacher.

When a student see that a teacher is investing in them and trying to build that relationship with them, it makes the students work harder and willing to go out of their comfort zone. This will encourage the students to be a part of the activity of learning that is taking place. To have good constructive peer review, you have to not point fingers or speak to single them out. An open line of communication will always work. Giving your opinion and what works for you is always welcomed to a person willing to accept it. Never bring negative feedback or energy to the conversation. Make students know it is okay to make a mistake. Also, letting the know it is okay to admit when they are wrong. As a teacher you have to establish a positive culture in your classroom from day one. "Habits and Decisions" poster was posted in this video and I seen another behavior chart post in another video, "Engaging the Higher Achiever" that Ms. Ehrke used to solve problems in the classroom, that i would love to bring into my classroom.

1. Investing in students relationships makes the learning environment positive and students are more willing to take risks while participating in the learning process.

2. I use sentence stems to guide students in discussions, I also model positive constructive ways to disagree with classmates.

3. I liked how engaged his students were and how they were not afraid of making mistakes or admitting when they are wrong.
