Ms. Laurance creates group activities for students to participate in. Making a community of learners builds self confidence by giving students a way to voice their opinions and have independent roles in the classroom. Ms. Laurance engages with each student individually by reinforcing each student with positive actions and comments.

Ms. Laurence clearly feels strongly about building community in her classroom. She does community building activities and greets her students in the morning. This helpes learners build self confidence because they feel safe and welcome in the classroom. This allows them to feel comfortable taking ownership and being themselves. Ms. Laurence has a positive attitude and she projects that onto her students.

Ms. Laurance builds an effective and welcome commnunity in the classroom by giving daily shout-outs or compliments to her students, so they feel confident to participate in class. For example, she greets her students, and they feel welcome and safe in the classroom.

Ms. Laurence allows her students to collaborate together for decisions involving their classroom. I enjoyed seeing her Turn and Talk method. This builds a sense of ownership over the classroom. She makes the students feel that their ideas and opinions are valid and important.
