Yes, it is right not to know all the right answers and learn togeather. This brings ownership into a project and a student becomes motivated to learn, create without the competition of a power struggle.

I believe student inquiry to be very useful in the classroom because it's somewhat similar to self study which can be a useful tool as you progress through education where the students find their own answers to their questions. This tool is especially helpful now seeing as how professors and teachers are not as available as they usually are since COVID has limited interaction.

Engineering has multiple solutions. I always ask "just look at the different number of automotive companies and different vehicles available for transportation."

Students curiosity is an unrealized learning skill that allows them to use the knowledge they were taught and develops critical thinking skills. Having student led learning allows them to really explore the possible outcomes. Having the teacher structure, the students learning gives the students the power to be invested and engaged in the project. Essentially creating a test to see how the student were able to use their knowledge and see their skills in their own work.
