Discussion and Supporting Materials

Thought starters

  1. How does developing a physical representation of vocabulary promote deep learning?
  2. Ms. Martin talks about words becoming three-dimensional. What does she mean by that?
  3. How does using exit cards benefit both Ms. Martin and her students?

Thank you for this! Getting back to teaching dance, movement, and choreography after a little hiatus and found this video extremely helpful. I love the B.E.S.T structure as it clarifies and organizes these movement concepts for a curriculum setting. Would love to see more like this!

This is a great example of how to teach the content of the arts through dance while also demonstrating the 4 Cs of 21st Century learning: Creativity, Collaboration, Communication, and Critical Thinking. Ms. Martin is an excellent teacher!

This was an excellent resource and a reminder as to how I used to teach and providing me with the inspiration to resume teaching dance full time after years of teaching English.
