Curriculum alignment can be used across the different grade levels beginning in pre-k. The data will help teachers know where their students are and where they need to be by the end of the year.

Being able to effectively align curriculum vertically across grade levels depends on having a strong dialogue and consistent plan horizontally. Congruently, planning horizontally depends on a robust (school and district wide) vertical integration. This is a key element for large firms within other industries (engineering, for example). I can't think of anything better to illustrate the importance of V&H integration than education.
